Union Minister Kiren Rijiju reviews vital projects in Arunachal Pradesh

ITANAGAR: Union Minister Kiren Rijiju stressed on Tuesday the need for a robust post-project monitoring system to guarantee the correct implementation and effectiveness of projects. Convening a review meeting with various agencies in New Delhi regarding all developmental projects being executed in Arunachal Pradesh, the Union Minister of Earth Sciences suggested regular feedback on ongoing and completed projects in the northeastern state. He also emphasised the timely completion of projects, as an official communiqué informed here. The meeting, which was convened in line with the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for comprehensive and sustainable development, was attended by senior officials from the Border Road Organization (BRO), the Department of Telecommunications, and the Ministry of Home Affairs.

During the meeting, the agencies provided updates on the Vibrant Villages Programme, the progress of road infrastructure, and telecommunication improvements in the state. The officials presented a detailed account of the projects, their current progress, and their projected completion dates. The projects reflect the vision of a secure, interconnected, and robust infrastructure in Arunachal Pradesh. Rijiju, while applauding the department of telecommunications' efforts for swift execution of the Mission 500 4G saturation projects, urged all the execution agencies to increase their efforts and foster better coordination with the Centre, the state government, and the BRO. The projects that were discussed during the meeting include the roads and bridges initiative by BRO, which since 2015 has successfully completed 6848 km of roads, 24,531 metres of bridges, and six tunnels in Arunachal Pradesh. The meeting also discussed the department of telecommunications' 4G connectivity plan under the Universal Service Obligation Fund (USoF) and Mission 500 (4G Saturation Project), which is set to provide 270 villages in the state with seamless 4G connectivity. The communiqué also added that it dwelled on the Vibrant Village Programme by the Union Home Affairs Ministry, aiming at improving infrastructure in 455 border villages in the state to bolster border area development.
