Itanagar: Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Kiren Rijiju turned 49 on Thursday. His Union Cabinet colleagues, Chief Ministers and ministers of Northeastern states, BJP party workers and party colleagues and well wishers have taken to Twitter to convey their birthday wishes to the politician from Arunachal Pradesh.

Wishing Rijiju a happy birthday, Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu thanked him for his support and guidance.

Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal also extended his greetings.

Assam Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma called Rijiju an 'inspiration for many'.

Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh also extended his good wishes and called him 'dedicated and tireless'

Rijiju was born in Nafra, Arunachal Pradesh on this day in 1971. He pursued his higher education from the prestigious Hansraj College of Delhi University. He has a degree in Law from the Faculty of Law, Delhi University.

In 2004, he was elected to the 14th Lok Sabha from West Arunachal Pradesh Constituency. In recognition of his work, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had selected him in the Council of Ministers as a Minister of State in the Ministry of Home Affairs on May 26th, 2014.

He was duly adjudged as the Best Young Parliamentarian by the media for his outstanding 90% attendance and regularity of raising important questions of national and international concerns.

Rijuju is recognised as one of the key voices of the North East.
