PASIGHAT: The second phase of the zonal-wise state level-review meeting of the department of Women and Child Development (WCD) was held here at DC's conference hall.

The meeting was attended by the Secretary WCD CN Longphai , Special Secretary WCD Akriti Sagar, Director WCD TP Loyi, Dy. Directors and CDPOs of seven districts (Lower Siang, Leparada, West Siang, Shi Yomi, Siang, Upper Siang & East Siang Districts).

In the day-long meeting, threadbare discussions were carried out by way of interaction and question/answers to the officers in the district and Block level on the execution and achievements of various schemes undertaken by the department.

In his deliberation the Secy. CN Longphai said that a review meeting is nothing but to take stock of the ground situation and bridge the gap of any kind of shortfall.

The secretary said that the activities to be carried out by the department are evolving and dynamic because every day there is a beneficiary with a pregnant mother and a newborn.

He urged the officers to go for a wide media campaign and advocacy campaign so that 100% coverage is done in all the schemes of the department.

In her speeches, the special secretary Akriti Sagar appreciated the work done by the district and block-level officers. She added that we still have a long way to go because beneficiaries are increasing every day for which we have to work with full enthusiasm.

Earlier Director TP Lori in her keynote address explained the details of the schemes undertaken by the department of WCD.

She informs the house that the GoI has restructured the ICDS, Poshan Abhiyan, Scheme for Adolescent Girls and the National Creche Scheme into Saksham Anganwadi and Poshan 2.0 to converge nutrition-related initiatives across ministries and strengthen outcomes.

She added that it is high time to retrospect and understand our status and face the challenges to achieve the target.

All the Dy. Directors gave PPT presentations of their respective Districts and also shared some good practices done in their respective districts. The meeting ended with a vote of thanks from Dy. Director of the host district Machi Gao.
