Workers witness launch of Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maan-dhan Yojana by Narendra Modi

Itanagar: Over 1,500 workers in Arunachal Pradesh on Wednesday witnessed the live launch of Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maan-dhan Yojana (PM-SYM) by Prime Minister Narendra Modi from Vastral in Gujarat.

The PM-SYM is a pension scheme for the unorganized workers. Around 1,500 workers from various trade unions and private and government establishments assembled at the Dorjee Khandu Convention Centre here to witness the launch of the programme which was telecast by DDK, official sources informed. The programme was organized by the State Department of Labour & Employment in collaboration with State Common Service Centre (CSC), Employees Provident Fund Organisation, Employees State Insurance Corporation and banking agencies.

State Labour Commissioner Ojing Darung briefed about the scheme and urged all workers (18-40 years) to register their names in any CSC set up in every district of the State to avail pension benefit of Rs 3,000 per month after attaining the age of 60 years by producing their Aadhar and saving/Jandhan account number.

“The scheme is open for all unorganized workers working as domestic labourers, construction workers, street vendors, rag pickers etc., subject to payment of premium ranging from Rs 55 to 200 per month according to the age at entry,” Darung said. Over 200 workers were registered during the function and their registration cards were given by the commissioner, the sources added.
