KHONSA: A team of non-communicable diseases (NCD) specialists under the District Health Society (DHS), Tirap, successfully organized World No Tobacco Day at Care Me Home Centre near here on Wednesday.
NCD District programme coordinator Hunwang Nokbi, through a PowerPoint presentation, highlighted the disease. The presentation covered various essential aspects, including the introduction of tobacco and its harmful effects, the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act, and an overview of recently implemented government regulations in India, such as the prohibition on the use and sale of e-cigarettes.
Further, a psychiatric social worker, Gape Nguba, delivered an insightful speech on the mental health issues arising from smoking and provided valuable guidance on how to overcome them.
