JAMUGURIHAT: Assam Police have launched a crackdown against cattle smugglers. But the cattle smugglers also keep changing their modus operandi.
According to information, a team of Jamuguri police was waiting for a vehicle as per prior information in front of Jamuguri police station on Wednesday night by setting up a naka. The police team got secret information that a passenger-carrying Traveller bearing registration number AS 12 AC 6908 laden with 11 cattle heads was approaching that way. Accordingly, the Jamuguri police waited for the Traveller.
When the Traveller, laden with cattle, reached near the naka, the police team gave a signal to stop. But instead of stopping, the Traveller broke the naka and sped away. The police team followed the vehicle that proceeded towards Panpur road for nearly two kilometres. At last, the driver stopped the vehicle and ran away. Later on, the police team recovered 11 cattle from the Traveller. No one has been arrested till filing this report but police investigation is on.
