110 people test corona positive in Lakhimpur; total tally 3,180

LAKHIMPUR: A total of 110 new COVID-19 patients were detected in Lakhimpur district on Saturday. Out of them 27 patients were detected positive as per real time Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction (rRT-PCR) Test result while rest 83 patients were found positive through Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) conducted in various places under the district.

Two doctors working at the District COVID Hospital set up at Telahi Model Hospital tested positive on the day. In addition to them, the manager of North Lakhimpur branch UCO Bank along with one more employee, two employees of Assam Cooperative Apex Bank and one employee of Indian Bank were also found positive on the same day.

Notably, a total of 183 people tested positive for COVID-19 in Lakhimpur in the last two days as a terrible sign of community transmission of the pandemic in the district. Of them, 97 people tested positive on Thursday while 86 people were detected on Friday. On Friday, five employees of North Lakhimpur branch of State Bank of India and five employees of TD Hero Dealer were found positive.

With these newly-detected patients, the number of total COVID-19 cases in the district has spiked to 3,180. Of them, 2,180 patients have been discharged while 900 are active cases.
