Dibrugarh: The 11th Dibrugarh Book Fair, organized by Milan Jyoti Sangha in association with AAP and BSA, was inaugurated on Friday. Held at Chowkidinghee Field, the fair will go on till November 24. The inaugural ceremony was graced by acclaimed educationist, scientist as well as VC, Assam Down Town University, Dr. Amarjyoti Chowdhury, who was the chief guest.

The flag was hoisted by the chairman of Milan Jyoti Sangha, Amiya Hazarika. On the occasion, noted litterateur and former president of Axom Xahitya Xabha, Dr. Nagen Saikia, who was present as a distinguished guest, released a book. In his speech, Chowdhury spoke highly of the organizers for offering such a platform to the youth. Taking quite an optimistic approach, he asserted that most of the youth of the State didn’t turn to books only because they were not aware of good books, and as such, expressed his satisfaction over the fact that book fairs, across the length and breadth of Assam, were bringing such books to their knowledge and within their reach.

Several other dignitaries graced the occasion including Lahoal MLA Rituparna Baruah, DC Pallav Gopal Jha and Chief Manager, State Bank of India, North East Circle, Sunil Kumar Tandon. Later, an interaction session named ‘Antaranga Aalap’ was held.
