12 JNV students stuck in Hailakandi sent back home to Chattisgarh

HAILAKANDI: 12 students from Chattisgarh stuck up at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya here due to lockdown have been sent back to their homes on Thursday. The district administration took necessary precautions and safety steps before sending them off.

Deputy Commissioner Keerthi Jalli complimented the principal, teachers, cooks and helpers for keeping the morale of the students stuck up in the school 'Kudos to the team of principal, teachers, cooks, helpers who kept up the morale of these students in an empty school," said Jalli.

Meanwhile, 14 more persons coming from outside have been put under home quarantine. Of the 274 swab samples, 256 have tested negative with one COVID-19 death. The Assam Community Surveillance Plan (ACSP) for Severe Acute Respiratory Infections (SARI) and Influenza-Like Illness (ILI) in order to contain the possible spread of COVID-19 has been initiated in all blocks across the district. Doctors with health functionaries comprising ASHAs, ANMs, MPWs and lab technicians are working relentlessly to ensure no village is left out during surveillance.

To carry forward this programme and monitor it on a daily basis, a State Level Task Force and a State Level Coordination Committee have been constituted. A set of guidelines has been issued through the standard operating procedure for ACSP for COVID-19 on Monday night and the government executed its implementation from Thursday in all districts.

However, the surveillance shall begin from May 16 in Kokrajhar, Kamrup Metropolitan, Jorhat, Sonitpur and Cachar districts, where five zonal screening camps have been set up for screening people coming from different parts of the country.
