13th Annual Science Meet held at Hapjan High School, Gangabari

TINSUKIA: The 13th Annual Science Meet of the Aryabhatta Science Centre, Hapjan Block was held at Hapjan High School, Gangabari recently.

The meet began with the hoisting of flag by the headmaster of the school, Surajit Bhattacharya. The inaugural session of the meet was inaugurated by the vice-president of Aryabhatta Science Centre, Hapjan Block, Madan Dutta. Addressing the gathering, the Head of the Department of Physics of Tinsukia College, Dr Rajib Konwar talked about scientific temperament and superstitious beliefs. The science exhibition was inaugurated by the assistant professor of Botany of Doomdooma College, Manoj Dutta.

President's award-winning innovator Suren Baruah and renowned environmentalist Joynal Abedin interacted with the students in the 'Meet the Scientist' programme. The District Elementary Education Officer of Tinsukia district, Binti Sharma and journalist pensioner Jiten Sharma were also present on this occasion.

The valedictory session of the meet was attended by the District Coordinator of Aryabhatta Science Centre, Tinsukia, Diganta Kumar Bhajani and wildlife specialist Sailendra Mohan Das. Altogether 280 students of 28 different schools under Hapjan Development Block participated in science model, extempore speech, poster competitions held in the meet.
