HAFLONG: To set an example of free and fair elections, the people of Dima Hasao have resolved to defy money and muscle power in the 13th N C Hills Autonomous Council by using democratic means and ways.

In an exclusive interview, Gaon Buras of several villages of 28 constituencies of N C Hills Autonomous Council said that the district of Dima Hasao in Assam has made records in many good things. Now, they want to make another record in the election which is anticipated to be held in January 2024 to be the most peaceful one defying all the money and muscle-power. They warned the people of Dima Hasao, saying that there were some arrogant power-hungry people who would try to mislead the simple citizens and lure them with easily earned money to cast in favour of them. Some others will also threaten the common and simple people who never think of them or stand by during any crisis. In a democracy, people have the right to choose their leaders as they want. In Dima Hasao, people have very little demand for peace and development and of course, a caring leader who could stand by them in the crisis.

The official preparations to hold election to 13th N C Hills Autonomous Council Election are in full swing and the date for the election is to be declared soon. The N C Hills Autonomous Council has 28 constituencies. In the previous election, BJP bagged 19 seats out of 28, Congress 2 and others 7. This time BJP has targeted 28 out of 28, and Congress and TMC have also targeted a good number.

The political parties have started the election campaign though the date for the election is yet to be declared. All the political parties are yet to declare the list of candidates for the election.
