GUWAHATI: It seems there is no respite in crimes against women and girl children in the state as another shocking incident has come to light where a 10-year old girl was allegedly raped by a minor boy in Assam's Hojai district on Wednesday.

As per police, the 14-year-old accused lured the girl to a nearby forest and repeatedly raped her, and abandoned her there.

According to sources, the family members of the minor had first approached the village headman and later filed a police complaint. The accused was picked up by the police on Tuesday and the girl was sent for medical examination.

Police have also registered a case under relevant sections of the IPC and the POCSO Act.

Meanwhile, the Nagaon Juvenile Court directed that the boy be sent to Jorhat Juvenile Home.

Earlier, a 12-year old minor girl was raped by a married person. According to reports, a 36-year-old married man allegedly raped a minor girl in Silapathar, Dhemaji in Assam.

The accused has been identified as one Rajiv Medak (36), son of late Debanada Medak.

The report further said that the accused, Medak had entered the house of a neighbor on some pretext and raped the minor while taking advantage of the fact that no one was present in the house when the crime had been committed.

The police said that the minor was alone in the home when the barbaric incident took place. The accused fled the scene after committing the crime leaving the injured and bleeding girl alone in her house.

Meanwhile, Dhemaji Police have registered a case vide case number 374/21 at the Silapathar Police Station based on a complaint filed by the victim's father. The angry local people who were shocked by this incident demanded immediate arrest and capital punishment of the culprit so that justice could be served fast-track for the bereaved family of the minor girl.
