Tamulpur: A 15-day workshop on Bodo folk song and musical instrument was held from Monday in the premises of Tamulpur Harimu Afad office under the Chief Minister’s Total Rural Development Yojana in association with Nabajagaran Abhijan Society and organized by Tamulpur Cultural Centre.
The programme was inaugurated by Harendra Nath Boro, vice-president of Tamulpur District Bodo Xahitya Sabha, by lighting a candle. After the inaugural programme of Bodo Folk Song, a meeting was also held which was conducted by local cultural worker Rameswar Brahma. Addressing the meeting, Cultural Development Officer of Tamulpur Cultural Centre, Juganta Bayan said that the Chief Minister of Assam had taken initiative to preserve the endangered (imperilled) folk songs along with the culture of various castes and communities of the State and this programme was a part of that mission.
In this workshop, more than 50 participants from the greater Tamulpur area are taking part. Moreover, a 15-day workshop on Banageet and Lokogeet started at Laupara Janakalyan Library on September 14. It was inaugurated by local social worker Sachin Haloi. More than 50 people are participating in the workshop.
