KOKRAJHAR: The Garla Batha Basumatary Public Charitable Trust on Saturday observed the 19th death anniversary of ‘Daoharu’ Garla Batha Basumatary, former president of the ABSU, at his burial place at Shamthaibari under Serfanguri police station in Kokrajhar district.
As part of the programme, the president of the GB Basumatary Public Charitable Trust, Rajendra Mashahary hoisted the flag of the trust while wife of GB Basumatary, Raktima Basumatary paid homage to her husband followed by floral tribute by MLA of 29- Kokrajhar West, Rabiram Narzary. The programme was also attended by the president of Kokrajhar district ABSU, Janak Uzir and other dignitaries.
In his speech, the MLA of West Kokrajhar, Rabiram Narzary said Daoharu Garla Batha Basuamtary was one of the greatest Bodo movement leaders whose position was next to Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma. He said that Basumatary was an all-rounder leader as he had all qualities. Narzary said the unification of the Bodo leaders was the need of the hour.
