1st death anniversary of Bhadra Krishna Goswami observed by Tinsukia District Journalists’ Association

Tinsukia: ‘The epic Mahabharata, though written centuries ago, its narratives have strong relevance in every form of our present day social life and continues to influence its teachings’ remarked Dr Arun Chandra Mahanta while speaking as key speaker on 1st death anniversary of Bhadra Krishna Goswami, who was former president of Asom Xatra Mahasabha and the founder president of Tinsukia District Journalists’ Association (TDJA). The TDJA, under the aegis of Digboi Press Club (DPC), organized the event at Priyadas Talukdar Smriti Bhawan Digboi on Thursday.

Addressing a gathering of leading citizens of Digboi, journalists from across Tinsukia district, Dr Mahanta, a physician by profession and presently CMO Sivasagar, an ardent bahona artiste, swimmer and writer, in his lucid language cited several examples that correlated tales from Mahabharata with the prevailing social scenario. In his speech, Dr Mahanta also established a close link between the epic and medical profession. The programme moderated by Dr Rishi Das, president TDJA was addressed by Arjun Baruah president Doomdooma Press Club and Dileep Bhattacharyya president Digboi Sahitya Sewa Samity (DSSS) and former principal Soumar Vidhyapith, who also highlighted Bhadra Krishna Goswami’s multi-faceted personality. Earlier the programme began with lighting of ceremonial lamp by secretary DSSS, Anil Saikia with floral tribute at the portrait of Bhadra Krishna Goswami.

The programme anchored by secretary DPC, Arup Kalita was attended by Arudhriti Mahanta, a borgeet artiste and violinist, Kamal Talukdar, vice president South-East Zone AUWJ, Parag Bhuyan and vice president and general secretary of TDJA, Rana Jyoti Neog, president DPC, Ramani Borgohain, former secretaries of TDJA, Manoj Dutta and Manuranjan Das among others.
