JORHAT: Two people have been detained for producing fake permit to transport vegetables during lockdown.

The permit was actually issued to Mofizul Rahman, a vegetable seller of Borghuli village in Kaliabor but it was forged by the duo.

Police seized two vehicles, loaded with vegetables from the duo.

The ones detained had forged signature of additional district magistrate in-charge of Kaliabor Sub-division.

It was an FIR lodged by sector magistrate S. Baruwati that detected the forged document and got the two people detained.

The two were found at a vegetable market at Neauville Road in Jorhat.

Meanwhile, in a major relief to people of all the strata in Assam, the State Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department has reportedly, fixed the retail, wholesale and online prices of vegetables. A section of people has been alleging that some unscrupulous vendors, taking the advantage of the on-going lockdown imposed by the Union Government to check the spread of novel coronavirus, tried selling at an exorbitant price without any apparent reason. In view of this, the state government fixes all prices of vegetables. The order came into effect from Tuesday, April 7. On the other hand, the Kamrup(M) administration will sell vegetables at 82 designated places across Guwahati.
