2 die of COVID in Sonitpur district, 228 new positive cases detected

TEZPUR: Two persons lost their lives due to COVID-19 in Sonitpur district on Thursday. They have been identified as Jahiruddin (65), resident of Ghoramari, and Binapani Saikia (79), resident of Mazgaon Tezpur, who died at TMCH, taking the death toll to 78 in the district during the second wave of the pandemic. Altogether 5,638 tests were done across the district on Thursday, out of which 4,956 were RAT and rest RT-PCR. Among the new 228 positive cases detected, 224 cases were from RAT and 4 from RT-PCR.
