2 Extremists Shot Dead at Gossaigaon; Arms Recovered

Gossaigaon: Based on ground input about movement of some extremist cadres in Soraibil BOP area along the Indo-Bhutan border, an operations team of Kokrajhar district Police with APR commandos laid ambush in Boshbil FV under Soraibil BOP of Gossaigaon PS at 5.30 PM on Thursday. At around 6.15 PM, a group of extremists on two or three motorcycles came into the striking zone of the ambush team. As they were stopped and asked to surrender, the extremists started firing on the team. The team retaliated by taking cover with tactical movement.

After the firing stopped, two injured extremists were found and they were immediately shifted to RNB Civil Hospital, Gossaigaon. But, doctors declared them brought dead. They have not been identified yet. One AK series Rifle, one AK Magazine, five rounds of 7.62mm Live ammunition, 7.62 fire cartridge, one Hero Shine Bike and two mobile phone items were recovered from their possession. Others managed to escape taking the advantage of darkness and forest cover. Search operations are going on. A case has been registered.
