GOLAGHAT: At least 20 members of Oikya Sena Asom of Golaghat district along with general secretary Taufik Ahmed were detained by Golaghat Police from Rongajan area on Wednesday for carrying out a half-naked protest against the implementation of the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016. The activists of Oikya Sena Asom moved towards Golaghat town by staging the half-naked protest. Golaghat Police caught them in the Rongajan area and took them to Golaghat police station. Talking to the media, general secretary Taufik Ahmed said, “We strongly oppose the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016. We will never allow the Narendra Modi-led BJP government to implement the bill in Assam.”
Oikya Sena Asom also slammed the Sarbananda Sonowal government and said that the Narendra Modi-led BJP government thought that Assam was a dumping ground, a dustbin. “But we will never allow them to destroy Assam and its tradition. Illegal migrants should be deported from Assam anyhow,” he said.
