BOKO: More than 200 pieces of immature sal logs were seized by the State Forest Department from a Public Works Department RCC bridge construction site at Neuldoba village under Boko constituency in Kamrup district on Thursday.
DFO West Division Forest Office, Ranjan Goswami said that on Thursday morning he received information about the use of immature sal trees in the construction site. So he immediately ordered the Singra forest range to take action.
Singra Range office staff along with Bamunigaon, Kukurmara, and Nagarbera forest staff reached the place and seized more than 200 pieces of immature sal logs. Later, the staff used an excavator and uploaded the logs in trucks and brought them to the Singra Range Office, Boko. DFO Goswami said that the forest department would take necessary action in the matter very soon. The market value of the logs is more than Rs 10 lakh.
