200 teachers of Sivasagar district threaten to boycott ‘Gunotsav and Swa Gunotsava'

GAURISAGAR: As many as 200 fixed pay working in various high schools and HS schools of Sivasagar district have threatened to boycott the forthcoming Gunotsava and Swa Gunotsava due to sheer negligence of the State Government.

In 2001, a good number of highly qualified, young and energetic youths were appointed in various high school and higher secondary schools in Sivasagar, Lakhimpur, Dhemaji, Nagaon, Sonitpur and others districts of Assam. But after 19 years, they continue to serve at a fixed pay compared to other regular teachers. They perform all duties like HSLC answer script evaluation, election duty, NRC duty and Gunotsava like regular teachers.

But now they have expressed strong resentment at the State Government’s apathy and have threatened to boycott all programmes and activities of the forthcoming Gunotsav and Swa Gunotsava.
