KOKRAJHAR: The Bodo Sahitya Sabha (BSS), in association with Kokrajhar district committee, on Thursday observed the 21st death anniversary of Subungthini Thandwi Bineswar Brahma at his burial place at Chandamari in Kokrajhar.

As part of the programme, the president of the BSS, Taren Boro hoisted the organizational flag at half mast while Sarbeswar Basumatary, brother of Bineswar Brahma, paid floral tribute at his portrait. The programme was also attended by the CEM of BTC, Pramod Boro, minister UG Brahma, MLA Lawrence Islary, and other dignitaries.

The president of the BSS, Taren Boro said Subungthini Thandwi Bineswar Brahma took a huge responsibility for the uplift of Bodo medium and literature. He said that Brahma also selflessly dedicated his life for the society and worked with moral responsibility. Brahma also played a major role for inclusion of Bodo language in the 8th Schedule of the Constitution of India and making it the associate official language of Assam, he said. He also said that separate Directorate for Bodo and other tribal languages became a reality because of the hard work of Brahma. He called upon all to recollect Brahma's contributions to the society.

BTC chief Pramod Boro said that Brahma was a leader having clear mission and vision for the society who worked relentlessly. He said that Bineswar Brahma was a victim of violence and terrorism. "I started to raise voice against the arms movement and terrorism since 2009 as terrorism has taken lives of hundreds of people in the region," he said.
