22nd Rongjali Bwisagu celebration concludes in Kokrajhar

KOKRAJHAR: The 22nd Boro Bhatarmari Rongjali Bwisagu festival in memory of 'Subungthini Thandwi' late Bineswar Brahma, the then president of the Bodo Sahitya Sabha (BSS) held at Bhatarmari village and golden jubilee celebration of Sanjwrang Club of Tengapara held in connection with the Rongjali Bwisagu held at its club premises concluded on Sunday evening with colourful cultural programmes.

As part of the programme, the president of Bhatarmari Rongjali Bwisagu Faligra Afat Niranjan Brahma hoisted the flag in the morning followed by homage to late Bineswar Brahma by Binanda Basumatary, advisor of Boro Bhatarmari village committee. The 'giving respect and taking blessings' ceremony from the elders was followed by the opening of the stage by retired principal of DIET, Kokrajhar Bandhuram Brahma.

The discussion on the Bwisagu was attended by Birinchi Kr. Brahma, head master of Tengapara LP School and president of Rongjali Bwisagu observance committee as chief guest, Jagadish Prasad Brahma, director of Education, BTC and Jayanta Narzary, famous artiste as guests of honour. The Bwisagu dance competition was inaugurated by artiste Anjali Bodosa while cultural evening was inaugurated by Bikash Basumatary (Laloo), noted film artiste and social worker of the locality. There were also competitions on poem recitation, spot art, Bwisagu songs and dance etc.

On the other hand, the golden jubilee celebration of Sanjwrang Club of Tengapara held in connection with the celebration of Bwisagu came to an end with a two-day colorful programme on Sunday night. In the Bwisagu dance competition, Rang Rasi group emerged as the best and received cash with citation while Haila Huila group and Kanjana group stood in the 2nd and 3rd respectively.

In single dance competition, Swgwmsar Basumatary, Monalisha Basumatary and Neha Brahma stood in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively. In poem recitation from class VI-VIII, Jyoti Rani Brahma, Bilai Daimary and Neha Brahma got 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize while in poem recitation of class I-V, Disha Brahma, Jwngsar Brahma and Sanswrang Daimary got the 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize respectively. Tengapara South became champion in the volleyball competition defeating North Tengapara while in Bwisagikhungri competition for the married women, Sarathi Brahma got the 1st prize while Esha Rani Brahma and Trijula Narzary received 2nd and 3rd prize respectively. The Deputy Commissioner, Kokrajhar Varnali Deka inaugurated the cultural evening. Former EM of BTC Mana Kr. Brahma inaugurated the volleyball competition and MCLA Doneswar Goyary gave away the prizes to winners.
