UDALGURI: The 23rd battalion SSB imparted mushroom cultivation training to the village youths of Bhutan bordering area and five of them have already started their business in the area.
The closing ceremony of the month-long mushroom cultivation training and the opening ceremony of another month-long beautician training for inspiring females of the region was held at Jangle Borigaon LP School on Tuesday. KanchanChhetry, a mushroom cultivation trainee, thanked the SSB troops for their assistance in earning a through mushroom cultivation.
"It is a very good concept of SSB to impart training to earn a living to the needy and poor villagers of the area," said Sanjit Tanti, BTR MCLA of NonaiSerfang constituency. He was addressing the people gathered at JanglaBorigaon L P School. Chance Keishing, the DIG of SHQ Bezpara, said, "Mushroom is a nutritious food and it needs only 15 days to grow. If we nurture it, it will prove beneficial for us. There are abundant natural resources in the BTR region but the people need skill, energy and nutrition." "Mushroom can fulfill the need of nutrition of the people," he added.
NN Saha, the branch manager of SBI Udalguri, assured the local mushroom cultivators to help them if they a proper scheme. Gobinda Chandra Basumatari, the deputy chief of BTR, lauded the efforts of SSB to improve the living standard of the people in the area. The SSB also provided medical and veterinary facilities to the villagers simultaneously in the programme.
