Nagaon: The 8 Assam Battalion NCC, Group Headquarters, Tezpur, under the aegis of NCC Directorate North East Region, organized a felicitation programme titled 'Shaheedon Ko Shat Shat Naman' to honour the supreme sacrifice of the fallen heroes while defending the nation at the office premises of 8 Battalion NCC here at Nagaon on Friday morning.
It was part of the DG NCC Directorate's flagship programme through which the directorate targets to honour over 5,000 families of martyrs who sacrificed their lives for nation across the country since January 26, 2022. The programme will be concluded on August 15, 2022.
During the programme, the officials of the 8 battalion NCC felicitated around 24 families of martyrs from in and around Nagaon and presented them with a 'plaque of gratitude'. The programme was attended by next of kins of the martyrs, local civil dignitaries, officers and personnel as well as cadets of the battalion, including NCC Officer and teacher of Nagaon Government Boys' Higher Secondary School, Saiful Islam, Colonel Sukhadev Singh and NCC cadets of various educational institutions.
Colonel Amar Singh, SM expressed his deep respect and honour for the sacrifice made by the armed forces. He exhorted the cadets to take motivation from those martyrs and urged the cadets to keep the interest of the nation above all. Dr Sarat Borkatoki, Principal of Nowgong College, graced the occasion as the chief guest and spoke on the sacrifice of martyrs and its contribution to nation building.4
