SIVASAGAR: There is no dearth of talent in Assam. However, to crack national-level competitive examinations, the kind of ecosystem is required, that has not been built up yet in Assam. Students from Delhi, Bihar and Southern states perform much better in all the examinations under UPSC and other competitive examinations compared to students from Assam. In such circumstances, a government coaching institution to train the students of Assam is the need of the hour. Dr. Nani Gopal Mahanta, Advisor to the Education Department, Government of Assam inaugurated the 25 days' online programme on "How to prepare for APSC and UGC-NET (Economics): Learn from Professors and Officers," which was organised by the Department of Economics, in association with Arts Stream, Sibsagar Commerce College.
Speaking as keynote speaker, Dr. Mahanta stressed on the issues of connection between syllabus, society, and economy, creation of a complete human being in the light of New Education Policy, the spread of technical and vocational education with a logical stance. Attending the programme as a distinguished speaker, Dharma Kanta Mili, Director of Higher Education urged all the students to realize their inner strengths and work hard on their goals. Citing the examples of our nation's recent Olympic winners, he said this became possible due to their hard work, perseverance, and fighter minds. If students proceed with such fighter mindsets, their success is inevitable.
Earlier, Dr. Saumar Jyoti Mahanta, Principal of Sibsagar Commerce College spoke about the various initiatives taken by Sibsagar Commerce College in his welcome address.
Pankaj Jyoti Hazarika and Dr. Ankita Borbora moderated the whole programme. Resource persons of the programme, ACS officer Dr. Jiwan Krishna Goswami, Dr. Kasturi Goswami, professor Dr. Ratul Sharma also addressed the participants.
