‘2,506 persons in Kamrup district home-quarantined’ Says Dr. N S Tishya

RANGIA: In total 2,506 people of different ages have been advised home quarantine in Kamrup district. According to Dr. N S Tishya, Joint Director Health, the statistics include 381 under Rangia BPHC, 322 under Kamal-pur BPHC and 122 under Bihdia BPHC till filing of this report. Total 159 beds, including 20 beds at Rangia Railway Polyclinic, are ready for people under quarantine in five Model Hospitals of Kamrup district, he added. Meanwhile, the district administration has taken various measures to ensure the lockdown. Grocery and medical stores are open for general public during the fixed hours.

Minister of State and local MLA Bhabesh Kalita on Sunday carried out monitoring of street sensitization programmes supported by the Rangia civil administration. He himself sanitized the entire premises of Rangia PWD Inspection Bungalow with the help of SDRF team. Several NGOs distributed food to the needy, especially the homeless and destitutes.

Around five lockdown violators have been arrested from Soalkuchi area. A case has been registered against them. According to Kankan Kumar Nath, SDPO Rangia, one Sarukh Khan, son of Ajijur Rahman of village Khalipa Chupa Borni under Hajo PS was arrested on Sunday in connection with Hajo PS case no. 288/2020 u/s 188/269/325/ 353/ 506 IPC related to assaulting medical personnel. Minister Bhabesh Kalita appealed to the public to strictly observe the lockdown and follow guidelines.
