NAGAON: A day-long programme to commemorate the 25th death anniversary of noted educationist, litterateur and president awardee Vidya Hazarika was observed at Kaliabor Santipur Hari Mandir on Sunday. Former AGP minister, academician, and litterateur Gunin Hazarika chaired the programme, while cultural activist Bhupendra Nath Hazarika anchored the programme. Noted Assamese literary critic, journalist, and retired professor Upendra Borkatoki was present as the chief guest and spoke on the life and contributions of Vidya Hazarika towards the fields of art, culture, literature, and education in the state. During the programme, an autobiography penned by Vidya Hazarika a couple of decades ago was also ceremonially released by Salil Kumar Mitra, a noted educationist and former colleague of the Hazarika.
Nirmali Hazarika, wife of Hazarika, and his two sons, Drumil Hazarika and Santanu Nabh Hazarika; Dhirendra Kumar Hazarika, retired principal; Biren Hazarika; Tankeswar Bora; Hareswar Sarma; Nripen Keot; AASU leaders Mriganka Shekhar Bharali Hazarika; Kangkan Jyoti Boruah; and other noted individuals of the greater Kaliabor areas were present during the commemoration programme.
