GOLAGHAT: Altogether 43 villages have been affected by flood in Golaghat district. At present, the Brahmaputra and Dhansiri rivers are flowing above the danger level. The district administration has stepped up rescue and rehabilitation efforts and has taken immediate steps to provide relief material to the flood-affected people. As per reports of the last 24 hours, 14 villages under Khumtai revenue circle, 6 villages under Dergaon revenue circle and 23 villages under Bokakhat revenue circle have been affected in this wave of flood. The total number of affected people in the district is 28,765.
Altogether, 843.25 hectares of agricultural land are currently under water while total livestock affected is 4,950. So far, 90.29 quintals of rice, 17.16 quintals of dal, 40.09 quintals of salt along with other necessary items such as mosquito coils and candles have been distributed among the flood-affected people.
