DHUBRI: As many as 29 corona positive cases have been detected in Dhubri district so far in the second wave. All the infected persons have been sent to home isolation while vaccination which remained close due to dearth of ample of second dose of vaccines, got started again.
Though situation in Dhubri district is not alarming like other eight districts in the State, where positive cases crossed 100 and subsequently primary schools are closed from Monday. However, Dhubri Deputy Commissioner, Deba Kumar Kalita issued stringent instructions as preventive measures to keep the spread of coronavirus at bay.
In the order, the DC stated that people must wear masks in public places and also should maintain social distancing.
Further, under the Disaster Management Act, anyone violating the protocols by not wearing masks would have to face penalty of Rs. 1000, the order stated.
Talking to The Sentinel, Dhubri Additional Deputy Commissioner, Pallab Mazumdar told this correspondent that for couple of days, some problems arise due to second dose of vaccination.
"Soon, the problems were sorted out and vaccination programme was put back on track in all the centres across Dhubri district," Mazumdar added.
However, there seem to be few takers of this order and blatant violation could be seen across district.
When this correspondent asked a person (not willing to be identified) who was not wearing mask while riding a bike in Dhubri town as to why he was not abiding the order, he said that he was bit confused of this order as all leaders in Assam during election addressed massive rallies with huge gathering, and interestingly, none in the gathering followed guidelines of wearing masks and social distancing.
"Same situation and picture prevail there in West Bengal where poll campaigns still going on and rallies after rallies held with huge gatherings out and out violating protocols and guidelines," another person who was also not wearing mask stated.
