TEZPUR: Three persons lost their lives due to COVID-19 in Sonitpur district on Monday. They have been identified as Pradip Kumar Sengupta (78), resident of Tezpur, Ranimai Daimari (38), resident of No. 1 Gerguajuli, Urohiloga, Rangapara and Paneswari Kalondi (50), resident of Missamari in Sonitpur died at TMCH, taking the death toll to 93 in the district during the second wave of the pandemic. Altogether 3,354 tests were done across the district on Monday out of which 2,887 were RAT and rest RT-PCR and among the new 197 positive cases found, 95 cases were from RAT and 26 from RT-PCR.

Meanwhile, to support its subscribers during the second wave of Coronavirus pandemic, Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has now allowed its members to avail second non-refundable Covid-19 advance.

Members who have already availed the first Covid-19 advance can now opt for a second advance also. The provision and process for withdrawal of second Covid-19 advance is same as in the case of first advance.

Considering urgent need of members for financial support in these trying times, Ministry of Labour and Employment in a statement said, it has been decided to accord top priority to Covid-19 claims.

"EPFO is committed to settle these claims within three days of their receipt."
