327 villages in Goalpara district affected by flood

GOALPARA: Flood has severely affected the Goalpara district also and till the time of filing of this report, 16,000 people had been shifted to relief camps.

According to the district administration sources, people of 327 villages in the four revenue circles of Balijana, Matia, Lakhipur and Ronjuli are reeling under water. Relief and rehabilitation works by the administration are already under way in the severely affected areas. Significantly, about 3,264 children and 148 pregnant or lactating mothers have also taken shelter in the relief camps, mostly school buildings. No report of flood death has been received so far in the district.
