35-Year-Old Man Tries To Kill His Wife In Assam's Sivasagar District

Guwahati: Sivasagar police on Monday arrested a 35-year-old man for allegedly attacking his wife with a sharp weapon in Assam's Sivasagar district.

According to reports, the incident was reported from Pator village in Banmukh BO under Sivasagar district.

The accused identified as Amrit Gogoi was not happy with the fact that his wife named Rinku Gogoi had lodged a police complaint against him for assaulting her under the influence of alcohol.

Acting on the complaint filed by Rinku Gogoi, the police summoned him and warned him of dire consequences if he ever in future found repeating the same. Miffed over this, the accused tried to kill his wife by slitting her throat with a knife.

Fortunately, the managed to escape and took shelter in a neighbour's residence, who later took her to the Sivasagar Civil hospital.

After the incident came to the notice of the police, they nabbed Amrit and started investigating the case.
