350 meritorious students of Demow and nearby areas felicitated by Demow Press Club

DEMOW: Under the aegis of Demow Press Club, a felicitation programme was organized in Demow Jyoti Bishnu building (Demow Public Hall) on Wednesday where 350 meritorious students of Demow and its surrounding areas were felicitated for their excellent performance in the HSLC and HS final examination, 2019.

A general meeting was organized which was presided over by Anil Kumar Dey, president of Demow Press Club. After that the invited guests were felicitated with a gamosa by the members of Demow Press Club. The felicitation programme started with song sung by the students of Demow Sangeet Kala Kendra. Ajay Kumar Gogoi, secretary of Demow Press Club, gave the welcome speech and spoke about the aims of the meeting.

Dr Pranay Phukan, Professor in Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH), was present in the felicitation programme as specific orator. Dr.Pranay Phukan gave his valuable speech and encouraged the students. Dr.Jayshree Naiding, DFO of Sivasagar district, was present in the felicitation programme as special chief guest. Jyoti Prakash, Deputy Commandant ITBP, and Abdul Zelil, Inspector of Schools, also spoke in the programme.

The meritorious students were felicitated with a certificate, a book and a sapling. In memory of social worker Gajen Chandra Gogoi and Numali Gogoi, their son Ajay Kumar Gogoi gave cash reward of Rs 3,000 to Sabalika Saikia, a student of Jawahar Navoday School, Nazira, who secured 92.06 per cent in the HSLC examination and a cash reward of Rs 3,000 to Kayshap Jyoti Buragohain, a student of Demow Junior College who secured 87 per cent in the HS final exam.

LAKHIMPUR: Basantalata-Biswaswar Changkakati Memorial Sankardev Shishu Bidya-Niketan of North Lakhimpur town on Tuesday felicitated the meritorious students of the academic institution who passed the HSLC exam with flying colours in this year.

The ceremonial programme organized on this occasion in the school kicked off with the lighting of lamp by Rekhamoni Baruah, the Pradhan Acharya of the lower section of the school. It was chaired by Niketan Management Committee president Rajesh Kumar Malpani while retired Lakhimpur District Elementary Education Officer Jiban Chandra Dutta graced the occasion as chief guest.

A total of 67 students of the school who passed the HSLC exam this year was given warm felicitation in the programme. The Jogeswar Borah Memorial Award conferred by his family and Amal Prabha Memorial Award conferred by Acharya Munindra Neog in revered memory of his mother were awarded to Khilgreece Sarmah who passed the exam scoring highest 94.16 overall percentage among all the students of the school this year.
