LAKHIMPUR: “Along with the rest of the State, Lakhimpur district administration and Health Department are all set to celebrate the Swasthya Sewa Utsav (SSU) on three consecutive days from April 6 to April 8. During this event around 39 health institutions from Sub Divisional Civil Hospital (SDCH) to Primary Health Centre (PHC) would be assessed.”
This was stated by Dr Gunin Kumar Gogoi, the Joint Director of Health Service, Lakhimpur, in a press conference held at North Lakhimpur Press Club on Wednesday. Dr Gogoi further informed that the Health Department in the district had been undertaking the preparation for the celebration of the three-day long event on the designated days since February and all preparations for the same had already been completed.
“The targeted health facilities will undergo internal as well as external assessments. Internal assessment will be conducted by internal evaluators for building facility-level capacity for ‘Swasthya Sewa Utsav’. He will communicate the gaps to the in charge of the health institution and will also help in bridging the same,” Dr Gogoi added.
On the other hand, Debanga Bikash Gogoi, the District Programme Manager, and Parashar Kalita, the District Media Expert of National Health Mission, Lakhimpur district said, “In the Swasthya Sewa Utsav, there will be a pre-defined checklist against each category of health institutions for the evaluators to complete the assessment of the facilities during the three days of the event. The primary objectives of the Utsav are to provide comprehensive health care services to the community by assessing the gaps, to make the health facilities in compliance IPHS, to create and share sustainable practices related to key areas of concern in public health facilities linked to positive health outcomes, to promote cleanliness, hygiene, and infection control practices in public health facilities, to reduce infant mortality rate and maternal mortality ratio, to reduce out-of-pocket expenditure of the public.”
The district administration and District Health Society appealed to the public to cooperate in making the Swasthya Sewa Utsav a success.
