LAKHIMPUR: Four COVID-19 fatalities were reported in Lakhimpur in the last two days. A couple succumbed to COVID-19 in the district. Dudul Mohan Baruah (51) and his wife Mira Oja Baruah (45), residents of Amkatia village under Dhakuakhana subdivision, died in Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH), Dibrugarh on Sunday.
In addition to them, two more persons of the district breathed their last in AMCH on Monday due to COVID-19 infection. They have been identified as Anima Hazarika (34), resident of Durpang Baliphukhuri, and Kamal Uddin (65), resident of Sonapur under Bihpuriya area.
Total 142 COVID-19 cases were detected in the district on Tuesday. Out of them 132 cases were detected as per RAT while rest 10 cases were detected as per Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction (RTPCR) Test. The detected RAT cases were reported from North Lakhimpur Urban Hospital (4), Dhalpur BPHC (13), Bihpuriya BPHC (13), Naoboicha BPHC (32), Boginadi BPHC (36), Ghilamora BPHC (1), Dhakuakhana BPHC (11), Lakhimpur Medical College and Hospital Respiratory Clinic (16) and Private Nursing Homes (6). On this day, the District Health Department conducted 3,253 RATs across the district and registered 94.84 per cent achievement in conducting the RAT out of the targeted figure. With these fresh patients, the cumulative total of COVID-19 cases of the district has hiked to 14,407 since April 4 of the last year. Out of them, 13,381 recovered patients have been discharged from hospitals and home quarantine while 914 are active cases at present. On Tuesday, 51 recovered patients were discharged from institutional isolation while 47 recovered patients were discharged from home isolation.
