JAMUGURIHAT: The 44th CATC (Combined Annual Training Camp) organized by 5 Assam NCC Battalion at THB College began from Monday. The Officiating Commandant of Tezpur Group Headquarter, NCC Colonel Praveen Bhal, VSM (Visista Seva Medal) attended the inaugural session that took place in the auditorium of the college. Addressing the NCC cadets the Officiating Commandant Colonel Praveen Bhal said about the role of NCC cadets in the process of nation building and made a humble appeal to the cadets to shoulder their responsibility from the very beginning.
The Officiating Commander was accorded a guard of honour by the NCC cadets. Earlier to this, Colonel Abraham N, the commanding officer of 5 Assam NCC Battalion forwarded a welcome address. The inaugural session was attended by Adm Officer Anjan Barua, ANO’s (Associate NCC Officer), CTO’s (Care Taker Officer), Physical Instructors and NCC cadets. A total of 542 Junior Division, Junior Wing, Senior Division and Senior Wing NCC cadets from 5 Assam NCC Battalion and 49 Senior Wing NCC cadets from 73 Assam NCC Battalion participated in the CATC camp.
The camp which commenced on July 3 will continue till July 12. During the 10-day camp, specialists from Indian Airforce, SSB, Assam Police, Fire and Emergency Services, Indian Army will provide basic training on self defence, cyber security, weapon display besides providing basic information about job opportunities in defence sector. The cadets will be provided basic training on rage fire during the camp.
