LAKHIMPUR: The 54th annual culture and sports week of Dhakuakhana College, organized under the auspices of the College Students’ Union, concluded on Monday.
On the concluding day of the event, a colorful cultural procession was organized in the Dhakuakhana town showcasing the manifestations of Assamese culture. In the procession, the students of almost all the departments of the Dhakuakhana college showcased their academic and social responsibilities through innovative tableaus while they tried to draw the attention of people towards several crucial problems of the society through some other tableaus. In addition, folk culture and tradition of various indigenous communities of the State, along with gayan-bayan and Bihu, was also exhibited in the cultural procession.
The open session organized on the occasion commenced with Principal Jogananda Sut in the chair. It was inaugurated by Lakhimpur District Development Commissioner Manoj Kumar Baruah while Lakhimpur Post Graduate Training College Principal Rukma Gohain Baruah graced the occasion as appointed speaker. The winners of various competitions held during the college week were given away prizes in the same event. Nishipriya Konwar was best singer of the year while Biplavjyoti Gogoi won the best player title. On the other hand, Raktim Burhagohain and Mrinalini Gohain bagged the best actor and best actress title respectively while Poppypriya Priyadarshini Patir won accolades as best literary figure.
