55 Delhi students and faculty team reach Assam's NIT Silchar

50 students and 5 faculty members from JNU, DU, IGNOU and IPU reached NIT Silchar, Assam campus and were accorded a grand welcome at Badarapur Railway station and NIT Silchar.

SILCHAR: Under the ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat Yuva Sangam’ programme (a government of India initiative), a delegation comprising of 50 students and 5 faculty members from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) Delhi, Delhi University (DU), Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) and Indraprastha University (IPU) reached NIT Silchar (Assam) campus on Friday. The team was accorded a grand welcome at Badarapur Railway station and NIT Silchar by the administration of NIT Silchar.

NIT Silchar and JNU Delhi are the nodal agency on behalf of the Ministry of Education for this particular ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat Yuva Sangam’ programme. The delegate members will stay in Assam from March 31 to April 5 to understand the rich culture and traditions of the region.

The purpose of the visit is to provide the youths of the nation an enriching experience to understand the culture, tradition, ethnicity and environment of various states and engage in exchanging their values to make a progressive nation. The visit also aims to promote tourism (Paryatan), traditions (Parampara), development (Pragati), technology (Prodyogik) and people- to-people connect (Paraspar Sampark). The delegation will visit Jalinga Tea Estate, Borail eco-park, Sonbeel in Silchar, adjoining districts, Karimhanj, Hailkandi, Haflong and Guwahti as part of the trip, stated a press release.
