6 die of COVID in Sonitpur district, 245 new cases detected

TEZPUR: Six persons lost their lives due to COVID-19 in Sonitpur district on Monday. They have been identified as Bireswar Rabha (40), resident of Nivaiti Gabharu, Shivmandir, Tezpur who died in Guwahati , Adhir Sutradhar (52), resident of Borghat, Khalihamari, Tezpur, Pradip Saikia (65), resident of Mitham Dhekiajuli, Father Raju Kumar Tirki (37), resident of Rangapara, Tilu Baruah (67) and Biren Hazarika (62), resident of Sologuri village Jamuguri who died in TMCH, taking the death toll to 43 in the district during the second wave of the pandemic.

On Monday, 245 new fresh COVID-19 cases were detected in Sonitpur district, thereby increasing the total number of active cases in the district during the second wave to 1,613. The total number of COVID deaths in the district has increased to 63 since May of the last year till today.
