6-year-old minor girl raped in Moran, Assam

The incident took place on Friday around 12- 12.30 pm at Chechughat under Khowang police station.

The accused has been identified as Kalyan Baruah (20) from the same village, who took advantage of the fact that the parents of the child were away working in the fields.

Her parents are daily wage workers and while her parents were away, the accused lured the child to a lonely place and raped her.

The incident came to light when her parents returned home in the evening and registered a case at Khowang police station.

Police have arrested the accused and the child has been sent to Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH) in Dibrugarh for better medical treatment.

The locals demand the Khowang police to take immediate action against it to prevent such incidents in the future.
