600 joins ex-servicemen re-union rally at Sainik Bhavan complex, Mangaldai

MANGALDAI: The Sainik Bhavan complex at Mangaldai on Friday wore a festive look with the presence of more than six hundred ex-servicemen including war widows along with their family members. The ex-servicemen including war widows of Darrang and Udalguri district today gathered in the Sainik Bhavan to take part in the ex-servicemen re-union rally organized by the Zila Sainik Welfare Board, Darrang at Sainik Bhavan, Mangaldai with a day-long program.

Commanding Officer of 14 Garhwal Rifles Colonel Rahul Singh taking part in the rally as the guest offered gift items as a mark of respect and honor to the only war widow of Darrang district Pabitri Rajbongshi. Pabitri Rajbongshi’s husband Subedar Gadhi Ram Rajbongshi had offered his supreme while taking part in a counter-insurgency operation. In the re-union rally, other ex-servicemen, war widows, and widows were also offered gift items as a mark of honor and respect.

Welfare Officer for Sonitpur and Lakhimpur district Colonel AK Nandi, officiating Zila Sainik Welfare Officer, Darrang cum Assistant Commissioner Hemashri Khanikar, honorary Captain (Retired) Dimbeswar Das and several other distinguished persons also took part in the reunion. The dignitaries also closely interacted with ex-servicemen, war widows on their problems and.suggestions. A senior staff of Zila Sainik Welfare Board Dilip Kumar Deka while anchoring the function also explained the object of the reunion rally.
