LAKHIMPUR: The 60th foundation day of Asom Natya Sanmilan was centrally observed on Thursday at Subansiri under Dhakuakhona subdivision in Lakhimpur district in a befitting manner. Along with the event, the concluding ceremony of artiste Brajanath Sarmah Memorial Programme was also organized. Both events, organized under the aegis of Lakhimpur district body, Subansiri unit of the organization and Taranga Natya Gosthi, began with the unfurling of flag by Lakhimpur district body president Bipin Kumar Borah. The smriti tarpan was done by secretary Jayanta Saikia. It was followed by a book release programme in which dramatist, poet Sukumar Phukan released Sanglap, the souvenir of the event, edited by Prasanta Kumar Chutia. State working president of the Asom Natya Sanmilan, Sewabrata Baruah took part in the open session-cum-public meeting which was chaired by Bipin Kumar Borah. It was inaugurated by professor of Dhemaji Commerce College, Rajumoni Bhuyan. On the other hand, State vice-president Hemchandra Baruah, former working president Nazim Ahmed, and secretary Giridhar Roy delivered speeches.
Veteran pensioner artistes of Dhakuakhona, Kamala Saikia, Bharat Chuita, Amulya Hazarika, Ghana Dutta and Bhola Kalita were honoured by the organization. In the evening, Lakhimpur ADC-cum-Dhakuakhona SDO inaugurated the play Shakunir Pratishodh which was presented by the artists of the Subansiri unit of the organization.
