SIVASAGAR/DEMOW: As many as 61 new cases of COVID-19, including Circle Officer of Demow Revenue Circle, were detected in Sivasagar on Tuesday. The increasing number of cases in the district has brought a sense of fear among the people.

Among the persons who tested positive, 25 are from Amguri Circle, 15 from Sivasagar Circle, 13 from Demow Circle and 8 are from Nazira Circle area. This also includes Circle Officer of Demow Revenue Circle, Indica Gogoi.

Meanwhile, Sivasagar Deputy Commissioner Lakhinandan Gogoi on Tuesday formally inaugurated a Swab Collection and Rapid Antigen Testing (RAT) centre at No. 1 Town Primary School. Inaugurating the centre, Gogoi said that the Rapid Antigen Testing (RAT) centre was opened following the directives of State Health Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma during his visit to the district on July 19. He also informed that three more such centres would be opened on Wednesday at Sivasagar Polytechnic HS School, No. 502 Jengonikotia Girls' LP School and Sivasagar Girls' College.
