DOOMDOOMA: The 72nd Village Defense Party (VDP) Day was observed at Doomdooma with a day-long programme on Friday. The programme got underway with hoisting of flag by officer-in-charge of Doomdooma Police Station, Inspector Manimohan Koch, which was followed by paying of tribute to the memory of the martyrs by Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Ghanashyam Hazarika.
Arjun Baruah, president of Tinsukia Zila Xahitya Xabha (TZXX), paid floral tribute before the portrait of the founder of VDP, Harinarayan Baruah. The open session held thereafter was presided over by president of the VDP Celebration Committee, Hem Singh Chetri and was addressed by Inspector Manimohan Koch, TZXX president Arjun Baruah, VDP Circle Organizer Lakima Mech Karmakar, and other dignitaries. A souvenir published on the occasion titled Santidoot was released by Arjun Baruah, president of TZXX.
