74th Independence Day celebrated across Assam with fervour

LAKHIMPUR: Amid adverse situation caused by COVID-19 pandemic, the 74th Independence Day was celebrated across Lakhimpur.

The programmes, organized on this occasion by Lakhimpur District Administration, kicked off with patriotic songs presented by District Information and Public Relation Department in the early morning. The National Flag was hoisted in the public residences, governmental, non-governmental and academic institutions across the district.

DIPHU: The 74th Independence Day was celebrated in Diphu Government Boys' School playground. The programme started with playing of patriotic songs through FLS from the office of the DIPRO, Diphu. The National Flag was hoisted by the chief guest Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) CEM Tuliram Ronghang at the parade ground followed by singing of National Anthem and march past.

Ronghang recalled the freedom fighters who laid down their lives for the country's independence. He highlighted the schemes taken up for development of the region. He added that the ultimate hope of the people of Karbi Anglong was to achieve autonomous State under Article 244A of the Constitution of India.

DHEKIAJULI: The 74^th Independence Day was celebrated in Dhekiajuli with adherence to COVID-19 protocols. The celebration was anchored by Kajal Borah, Principal Laxminath Bezbaruah Junior College, Dhekiajuli. Earlier on Saturday morning at 9 am the tricolour was hoisted at the Swahid Moidan Dhekiajuli by Kamal Jyoti Borah, the Circle Officer, Dhekiajuli Revenue Circle.

UDALGURI: Minister Rihon Daimari the local legislature and the PHE minister of the State hoisted the national flag at Udalguri. He has elaborately narrated the achievement of the State government in various fields. During the celebration the following COVID warriors were also felicitated - Sabita Daimari ANM of Bhairabkunda PHC, Krishak Nath laboratory technician, Prasanna Daimari BHI, Lohit Barua S W, Parul Saikia ASHA, Bhavani Devi ASHA, Salema Begum, ASHA, and Rajendra Deka a fourth grade employee of Udalguri Civil Hospital.

BISWANATH CHARIALI: The 74^th Independence Day was celebrated at Biswanath Chariali and Gohpur in Biswanath district, along with the rest of the country. The tricolour was unfurled at Kachari Maidan, Biswanath Chariali by Dhruva Jyoti Das, Deputy Commissioner, Biswanath followed by Guard of Honour presented by Assam Police following strict protocols of COVID-19. In his address, Das highlighted the developmental works being carried out in the district by the State government.

At Gohpur, Additional Deputy Commissioner and i/c SDO (C), Gohpur, Narendra Shah hoisted the flag amidst enthusiasm of local people and government officials. Shah elaborated the developmental activities being carried out by the government in Gohpur sub-division in his speech and sought public cooperation in making it a success. Local artists made colourful presentations of patriotic songs and dances at both the places.

NAMRUP: Namrup witnessed the celebration of the 74th Independence Day in its three industrial houses, educational institutions like Namrup College , Namrup Town Committee,Namrup Employment Exchange etc with patriotic fervor and enthusiasm following COVID-19 protocols.

At the Assam Petrochemicals Ltd here, the National Tricolour was hoisted by the Managing Director Atul Ch. Barman. He also inspected the 'guard of honour' by the security personnel of APL.

At the Brahmaputra Valley Fertilizer Corporation Ltd. (BVFCL), Ashim Kr. Ghosh, CMD, BVFCL hoisted the national Tricolor.

GOLAGHAT: The central function was held at Samannaykhetra Golaghat on Saturday with a limited programme due to coronavirus pandemic.

The minister for Agriculture Atul Bora took part as a chief of the Independence Day celebration progamme and hoisted the national flag. Earlier, he paid floral tributes at the statues of Mahatma Gandhi, Swahid Kushal Konwar and at the Swahid Bedi before joining the celebrations as Chief Guest.

The 142 Bn, CRPF also celebrated the day in a befitting manner at Jonaki Nagar headquarters, Golaghat.

Ratul Das, -2-I/C-142 Bn, CRPF hoisted the National Flag and took salute at Quarter Guard of the Unit and convey best wishes to all rank and files of the Unit on the occasion. Ratul Das, 2-1/C in his speech emphasized on the need of peacefiul living in the Independent country for which the Amed Forces has a major role in the maintenance of internal security of the country.

TINSUKIA: In view of pandemic scenario, the 74^th Independence Day was celebrated at Tinsukia amid the presence of thin attendance at Borguri ITI Field. Bhaskar Pegu, the Deputy Commissioner of Tinsukia hoisted the tricolour in presence of Shiladitya Chetia SP Tinsukia. He also inspected ceremonial march-past participated by police personnel followed by Guard of Honour

DEMOW: Under the patronage of local administration of Demow and in Association with the People of Demow, the 74th Independence Day was celebrated in Demow Public Playground on August 15. As per the Schedule, on August 15, the programme started with hoisting of the national flag in government offices. The ceremonial lamp was lit in front of the portrait of Mahatma Gandhi by Naranath Chetia, Retired Principal of Demow College. The Swahid Tarpan was offered by Ghana Kanta Gogoi, Retired Principal of Demow Higher Secondary School. The national flag was hoisted centrally by Indica Gogoi, Demow Circle Officer in Demow Public Playground. Kushal Dowari, MLA of Thowra Constituency was present in the programme as Chief Guest.
