KOKRAJHAR: Along with the rest of the country, the 75th Independence Day was celebrated in Kokrajhar with patriotic fervour. The law key celebration of I-day due to COVID-19 was held at Government HS&MP School playground.
The Chief Executive Member (CEM) of BTR Pramod Boro hoisted the National Flag. He also paid floral tribute to the martyrs of freedom movement at the martyrs' tomb. After hoisting the Tricolor, Boro inspected the guard of honour of police contingents.
In his speech, Boro extended his heartfelt gratitude to the national martyrs of freedom movement and called upon people to remember their sacrifice for the nation. He said the coalition government in BTR had been working hard to fulfil the promises made to the people. The people of BTR will be happy if the last person in the society gets happy, he said adding that his government will give priority to the poor people. He called his Executive Members (EM)s and MCLAs to visit rural villages and meet the poorest of the poor people and collect their genuine problems to provide them government privileges. He asked the officials and the elected members of the council to start visiting houses of the poor people after the Independence Day and also announced that the council will observe the month September as the "Month of Poor". He also said within September, his council will intensify visits to poor families to ensure government privileges.
Boro said all militant groups of the region had come forward and they are in a process of peace talks with the government. He urged the government of India and Assam to take proactive measures to solve their problems. He claimed that his council government had been tough to crackdown on corruption and corrupt practices and also said appointment letters have been distributed among the TET qualified teachers of lower primary and secondary schools without taking bribes. He also cautioned that if giving and taking bribes come to light then strong actions would be taken against the officials and the candidates.
On the occasion, CRPF martyr families, 14 officials of International Fund for Animal Welfare and Wildlife Trust of India including leaders of NGOs were felicitated for their relentless service for conservation of Raimana National Park of Kokrajhar.
KALAIGAON: Along with the rest of the country, the Bhergaon Sub Divisional office observed the 75th Independence Day in a peaceful manner. The function was held in the parade ground of Bhergaon SDO(C) office. Dipak Bhuyan, SDO(C) of Bhergaon Sub Division, hoisted the Tricolour on Sunday and this was accompanied by SDPO Jyoti Prasad Pegu. Moreover, Bhabendra Boro, EM of BTC along with other dignitaries like former MLA Kumli Rani Basumatary, former EM Lumchrau Daimari took part in the function.
MORIGAON: Independence Day was celebrated by Uttar-Pub Sisu Kalyan Samiti, Morigaon at its office premises at ward no 3 on Sunday. The president of the organization Rahan Uddin Ahmed hoisted the National Flag in presence of State Project Director Marilyn Das, district secretary Tafiz Uddin Ahmed and the members of the organization.
TINSUKIA: The Independence Day was celebrated in Tinsukia with gaiety. Minister for Revenue & Disaster Management Jogen Mohan hoisted the Tricolour and took guard of honour at ITI Field in Borguri. In his speech he dwelt at length on various developmental schemes being implemented in Assam and Tinsukia district in particular. He also visited several exhibition stalls put up on the occasion. Later the minister honoured personalities who excelled in various fields. In Margherita sub-division, the Tricolour was hoisted by Palash Rajkumar Ahom ADC i/c Margherita. Significantly for the first time the Village Defence Force (VDP) under Margherita PS participated in the march past.
GOLAGHAT: In Golaghat the function was held at General Field Golaghat. Minister for Finance and Social Welfare of Government of Assam Ajanta Neog was present as the chief guest on the occasion. Addressing the gathering, the Minister highlighted the various people-friendly schemes taken up by the government with the aim to improve the standard of living of the people and create employment opportunities and appealed to the people to come forward and enjoy the benefits of these schemes. Earlier, she paid floral tributes at the statues of Mahatma Gandhi, Swahid Kushal Konwar and at the Swahid Bedi before joining the celebrations as chief guest. On the occasion, the district administration felicitated various individuals and groups/organizations for excelling in their respective fields.
HAFLONG: With rest of the nation, Dima Hasao also celebrated the 75th Independence Day with a solemn programme at the Assam Rifles parade ground, Sarkari Bagan which was organized by the district administration on Sunday.
Attending the programme as chief guest, NCHAC Chief Executive Member Debolal Gorlosa offered floral tribute to the father of the nation Mahatma Gandhi and hoisted the Tricolour in presence of Deputy Commissioner Paul Barua, ACS and Superintendent of Police Jayant Singh, IPS.
Remembering the great freedom fighters who fought for free India, CEM Debolal Gorlosa, addressed the public at the event ground which was directly relayed through the fixed loud speakers in the whole town of Haflong. He spoke on various development projects undergoing under their government and also stated about the government achievements. CEM Gorlosa also informed about the infrastructural growth.
He further added that the council team under him is judiciously leaving no stone unturned in order to increase the DA (dearness allowance) of the council normal sector employees so as to be at par with the State government employees.
