LAKHIMPUR: With the prevalence of the third wave of contagion, the number of COVID-19 cases continues to rise in Lakhimpur district.
On Sunday, a total of 78 fresh COVID-19 cases were detected in the district as per Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) result. The fresh cases were reported from North Lakhimpur Urban Hospital (6), Boginadi BPHC (12), Ghilamora BPHC (5), Dhakuakhana BPHC (4), Lakhimpur Medical College and Hospital Respiratory Clinic (40) and Private Nursing Homes (11). On this day, the District Health Department conducted 403 RATs across the district including the Private Nursing Homes with 5.87 per cent achievement in conducting the RATs in order to detect COVID-19 patients out of the targeted figure 6,860.
On the other hand, a total of 51 suspected swab samples were collected at Lakhimpur Medical College and Hospital Respiratory Clinic for the Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction (RTPCR) Test till the filing of this report. On this day, 4 students of the district, 1 under Boginadi BPHC and 3 in Private Nursing Homes, were found to be infected with coronavirus. With these fresh patients, the cumulative total of COVID-19 cases of the district during the second and third waves of the pandemic has hiked to 13,541 since April 1 of the last year.
