DHUBRI: The 7th Ayurveda Day and Dhanwantari Jayanti was jointly observed by Ayurvedic Medical Organization (AMO) in collaboration with Ayush and sponsored by Rhino Research Product, Dhubri at Lions Club Dhubri on Sunday .
A free health check-up and Ayurveda awareness meeting was also organized on the occasion presided over by Principal of Bhola Nath College, Dr Dhruba Chakrabortty.
Speaking in the meeting, retired Judicial Magistrate Dipankar Sarkar spoke at a length on homemade and ancient Ayurvedic medicines which were still used by people of Aryan and Mongoloid races as traditional cure for various ailments in the south Asian countries.
"We shouldn't leave our traditional way of treatment, which is based on the science of naturopathy. It is now fast becoming popular in the western world," Sarkar said.
A neorotherapist and yoga teacher, Shyamal Kanti Ghose, while addressing the awareness meeting, said that Yoga and Ayurved were two sides of same coin and integral part of each other.
"Though practicing Yoga and Ayurved had remained in hibernation for many years, now people seeking solutions to their health-related issues in both according to Dhanwantari and Patanjali way of traditional treatment. The Government of India has also laid stress on them and is promoting them," Ghose added.
Dr Mrinal Nath Adhikari and Hemant Kumar Nath also spoke on the occasion and highlighted the various ways of benefits of Ayurvedic medicines without any side effects. Over 100 people underwent health check-up by Dr Mrinal Nath Adhikari and Hemant Kumar Nath, and free Ayurvedic medicines were given.
