DHUBRI: Eight employees of Dhubri State Bank of India (SBI) main branch were detected COVID-19 positive and the bank was declared containment zone for seven days from Thursday.

The main branch area comes under Ward No 1 of Dhubri town is not only dotted with Dhubri district administrative buildings, including offices of the Deputy Commissioner, Superintendent of Police, Divisional Forest Office, Circuit House and schools, but also the bungalows of high officials and residences of locals.

An official source informed that the samples of the eight employees were collected on December 27 and results of all eight came out positive on Thursday. Dhubri Deputy Commissioner Ambamuthan MP in his order issued on Thursday, declared the SBI main branch area as containment zone as per SOP of the government.

When contacted by The Sentinel, Dhubri Deputy Commissioner Ambamuthan MP said the entire area in the vicinity of SBI main branch would be a containment zone and restrictions on movement of people and vehicles as per COVID-19 protocol were imposed in the interest of health of the people.

"However, non-affected employees can carry emergency works and all government financial transaction works also. Besides these, entry and movement inside the premises of the bank are totally restricted," Ambamuthan MP further said.
